| Among the various search engine optimization (SEO) skills, SEO writing is probably one of the most important of them all. The reason for this is that it is this aspect of search engine optimization that provides directly for the intended target audience and needs an added skill of being able to write for humans as well as for search engines. So what are the requirements of SEO writing and what types of SEO writing are there? Skills required for SEO writing amount to just one really and has been touched upon before: the ability to write. This can of course be pinpointed further by looking at the difference between SEO writing and other types of writing, things that are essential in writing for an online audience. This can be seen in the way people read on the Internet: • Scanning: People scan when reading on the Internet. This is because of the already high volume of information available and the ease with which it can be acquired. If visitors can’t find what they are looking for, then they’ll be moving on to the next page. • Patience: Web users are impatient. They are already waiting for pages to load and have a myriad of other things they want to do on the Internet on their mind. • Ease of access: The intended audience expects to find their answers right away and will rather move on to the next page than sift through paragraphs of text to find what they are looking for. The bottom line is that catering for the intended target audience requires filtered text specifically focused on that which users are promised through the keywords with which they arrived at your site. An addendum to this is the fact that if keywords are somehow misleading, they are more likely to come back. SEO writing should be done in a clear and succinct style with an easy to understand vocabulary which will make the information accessible to a wider variety of people. It is also vital to keep the text flowing while applying all these parameters. There is only one type of SEO writing, but it can be applied in a variety of ways. One of these ways constitutes SEO article writing which is focused on writing articles on a certain set of keywords for publication either on a website or in an article directory. These articles are then linked back to the original website of the owner and are used in one-way link building. Another form of SEO writing is SEO blog submissions. This works much like SEO article writing, with the difference that the style of writing is often different and that the final product is published on a popular blog with a link back to the original website. The latter is also for use in RSS feeds where web users can stay updated about blog posts on the particular website. Finally, it is vital to ensure that SEO writing is done to a very high degree to not only keep potential customers coming back, but to ensure that search engines return a favorable ranking. |
